It shows various information about the status of the motorbike and provides additional functionality. The core is a digital processor and a liquid crystal display.

This is no official accessory and has no ties to Yamaha.

Data and Functions

A brief overview and summary about the displayed data and implemented functions:

Gear Indicator: The currently selected drive gear, including Neutral. Calculated from rpm and speedo information.

Fuel: The fuel content in the tank. Corrections are applied to reach maximal accuracy. The tank geometry is modelled by a 10 point interpolation, fully customizable. The "real life" fuel capacity is 19 litre due to the remaining air buffer (Fazer datasheet: 21 litre).

Water temperature: The original sensor signal is used, located in the thermostat housing.

Ambient temperature: Provided by an extra sensor that comes with the gauge.

Battery voltage: The current supply voltage inside the dashboard. Unfortunately this reading is significantly offset from the battery terminals due to the poor original cable harness.

Speed and correction: The current velocity based on the speedometer sensor. Optionally corrected by an adjustable static factor and a wheel-spin compensation. Readout in Km/h or MPH.

Speedometer correction: Correction for the original analogue (needle) speedometer and odometer. Applying a correction factor to the speed signal and feeding it back into the dashboard. Mainly used in case of changed sprocket ratios.

Acceleration: A timer starting automatically at first move and counting up until a certain speed or distance is reached (e.g. 1/4 mile).

Stop watch: Start/stop or lap time for use on race tracks. Optionally controlled by an extra button at the handlebar.

Gear shift indicator: The warning LED starts flashing beyond a certain rpm value. The limit can be set individually for each gear.

GPS Data: Showing GPS-Data from an additional, external GPS receiver (speed, height, course, time, etc. ). The HW and SW is prepared to read and decode NMEA-data. The GPS receiver is not part of the package.

Fuel Economy: Showing the current fuel consumption as miles-per-gallon or liter-per-100km. This function requires to route an additional cable and tapping the fuel pump.

Views: The displayed information are grouped into several windows. The user can choose his preferred design and arrangement from a predefined catalogue.

Menu: A settings menu is integrated to change units and adjust or check sensors.

FZS600 models are supported, but with restrictions. Please ensure you read the documents below which detail the limits. Support for these guages is limited.

Functional expectations and limitations

The gear calculation requires a speedo signal. There will be no gear reading at standstill.

The Multigauges accuracy highly relies on the quality of the sensor data available within the dashboard. Therefore a few limitations have to be noted.

The tank sensor was never designed for high accuracy. Also the nature of this measurement (permanent sloshing) is challenging. Hence there might be situations where the applied computational "tricks" come to their limit.

The "battery voltage" is measured inside the dashboard, not directly at the battery terminals. The poorly designed original Yamaha cable harness sits in between and causes a significant voltage drop. Even worse, this offset is floating and therefore can't be accounted for.

The water temperature sensor is located near to the thermostat. Thus the temperature is a mix between inner and outer cooling loop. Especially in cold ambient conditions the reading might stay unexpectedly low.
Tapping the sensor's electronics comes with the (intended) side-effect of lowering the kick-in temperature of the fan by about 5°K (105°C -> 100°C).

Documentation

📄 Download Installation Guide (PDF, 3.3 MB)

📘 Download User Guide (PDF, 244 KB)

A link to the creators website!

⚠️ Important Safety Disclaimer

All electrical work should be carried out by a competent person capable of doing such work. We take no responsibility for any damage caused to original equipment due to inexperience or improper installation.
